Erosion Control

North Idaho Pavers partnered with homeowners who built a new residence along the river. This project encompassed installing a paver walkway leading to their front door, grading their driveway with added rock to improve water drainage, and implementing erosion control measures along the riverbank. We installed Basalt steps leading into the river along the water’s edge and strategically placed Rip Rap Boulders to mitigate erosion

Key Features of the Project

Paver Walkways

Paver walkways are durable, customizable paths made from interlocking stones. They offer enhanced curb appeal, are resistant to cracking compared to concrete, and are designed to endure heavy foot traffic. These walkways allow for creative patterns and designs, perfectly complementing the new riverfront home.

Rocks and Grading for Driveway Drainage

Grading and adding rock to the driveway ensures proper water management by directing rainwater away from the house. Proper grading prevents standing water and reduces the risk of water damage to the foundation. The added rock layer enhances drainage and provides a stable, low-maintenance surface that complements the paver elements.

Basalt Steps

Basalt, a volcanic rock, is a popular choice for steps due to its durability, natural beauty, and resistance to wear and weathering. The Basalt steps in this project were installed to create a safe, elegant pathway down to the river, seamlessly integrating with the natural landscape

Rip Rap Boulders

Rip Rap boulders are large stones placed strategically along shorelines to reduce erosion caused by water currents or waves. They serve as a physical barrier, stabilizing the riverbank and protecting the property from long-term erosion. The use of Rip Rap not only safeguards the shoreline but also contributes to the overall aesthetic of the riverfront.

Why Erosion Control Is Essential

Erosion control is critical in protecting properties located near water bodies. Without mitigation, natural processes such as water flow, wind, and weathering can degrade shorelines, leading to land loss and increased risk of property damage. By installing Rip Rap boulders, North Idaho Pavers provided a long-term solution that combines functionality with visual appeal, ensuring the riverbank remains stable and secure.
